NEW NAME, SAME TEAM: THE INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY REALITIES OF CHANGING A PROFESSIONAL SPORTS TEAM NAME by Darren Heitner and Hayes Rule.
Darren Adam Heitner, Esq. is the Founder of Heitner Legal, P.L.L.C., which is a law firm with many practice areas, including sports law and intellectual property law. Heitner has represented numerous athletes and sports agents as legal counsel. Heitner also serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he teaches a Sports Law class. Heitner was named to UF’s 40 Under 40 and honored with UF Law’s Outstanding Young Alumnus Award. He is the author of How to Play the Game, What Every Sports Attorney Needs to Know, published by the American Bar Association.
Hayes Rule is a J.D. Candidate, 2022, at Florida State University College of Law and a former NCAA Division I golfer and journalism major at Mercer University. Hayes would like to give special thanks to his wife, Kristen, and his 1-year-old son, Xander, for all of their love and support.
